Hi Genki Japanese Restaurant is a unique eatery inside a senior home at Nikkei Place Seniors. It serves as the dining area for the residents and features affordable pricing and a very good menu of Japanese cuisine.

Chicken Karaage $9.00 (Side order no rice)
Sweet Soy Chicken Karaage.
Different from regular Karaage. It is sweet!

Chicken Katsu Curry $12.95
Nice presentation and portion size. Comes with salad and egg, rice, curry with potato pieces, and fried chicken cutlet.

Udon $4.50
Simple side of Udon. Could be cheaper.

$-$$ Affordable . $9-$15 main dishes. Cheap side dishes.

QUALITY:
Good! Overall good portion sizes and flavours.
The Chicken Katsu Curry is filling. Potato Croquette was nice and crispy.

Bad! Chicken Karaage, wasn’t fresh fried to order, some pieces were hard, overcooked, overly sweet. Bento had two small pieces of fish.

SERVICE:
Friendly service. There is a wait during busy lunch times.
Too bad dishes don’t come with complimentary miso soup.

VERDICT:
Hi Genki Japanese Restaurant is an authentic Japanese restaurant with Japanese comfort food from karaage to sashimi, rice bowls, bento and even dessert. This is a local favorite in a unique location. Some dishes are prepared with better quality than others.
