FAST-FOOD WESTERN – LOCAL FAVORITE
GOOD: Burger is tasty. Fries are good.
BAD: Sloppily made burger and the lettuce was cut for a salad not a burger.
Back in the day there was a place called Wally’s Burgers. It was a American-style fast-food drive-in with retro character. It was one of the last of its kind on Kingsway in East Vancouver.
Wally’s Burgers is local favorite for burgers, fries, and milk shakes. The Kingsway location was closed in 2008 and re-opened in 2010 at 49th and Elliot in the Killarney Center strip mall.
More than burgers, Wally’s has hot dogs, chicken and fish.
No Dine-In at the time of this video but Wally’s does have a few tables and seats.
Beefy Boy Combo $13.50
2 patties, onions, lettuce, tomato on regular bun with fries. At the time of this video they were “out of Wagon buns” (Oval shaped bun with sesame seeds).
Cheese costs extra $1
The burgers are good but the fries at Wally’s are surprisingly delicious and a highlight of the menu! They’re crispy and well salted definitely get the fries if you love fries.
Chocolate Malt Shake $3.75
Good. Sweet, mildly malty.
Wally’s also has a second location in North Vancouver that is a food stall at Cates Park.
PRICE:
$-$$ AFFORDABLE. Around $15-$20 per person.
QUALITY:
OK! Portion size is good. Fries are very good.
The burger falls apart easily for Take-Out orders. The burgers have thin patties with mild seasoning. The sauce they use gives the burger flavour. The lettuce was chopped like it was for a salad rather than leaf on patty.
SERVICE:
OK. Service was fast. Friendly but seemed rushed. Not much of a wait to get food. The business is family owned and operated. They open exactly at noon during covid times.
VERDICT:
Overall, SATISFIED. Wally’s Burgers is one of the only burger joints in the area and they have ok burgers. The fries are a highlight.
