The Captain’s Boil had a special ALL YOU CAN EAT SHRIMP and FRIES deal for a Limited Time Event November 18 to December 1st. The event is now over but here is the video!
With locations in BC, Ontario, Alberta, Manitoba and Nova Scotia The Captain’s Boil is really popular!
For $27.99 you could get all the shrimp and fries you want. Any wasted food (specifically wasted shrimp) would be an extra charge.
There was no special AYCE menu. You start by ordering a drink then
picking your Flavour and Spiciness level for the shrimp and fries.
Every time you order another round you can switch up the flavor.
The fries at The Captain’s Boil are surprisingly good. They are crispy and are nicely seasoned.
Gutom Tip: You don’t have to order fries every round. Stick to the SHRIMP!
ROUND 1
1 lbs Shrimp Garlic and Butter!
1 lbs Shrimp Captain’s Boil Flavour!
All shrimp is served in plastic bags. One bag contains 1lbs of shrimp, or around 20-25 individual pieces of shrimp. We counted! One bag of shrimp is worth $17.99 on the regular non-AYCE menu. They do give you the option to order a Half pound of shrimp.
The shrimp is VERY HOT! You will burn your finger tips if you reach into the bag. It is nicely mixed with flavour but you have to do all the peeling yourself!
Gutom Tip:
The best technique is to dump the shrimp on the table for it to cool down, then put the waste in the bag!

A seafood boil is when you combine shellfish like shrimp, crawfish, and crab and boil it together with various spices and veggies. The boil is popular in the Southern USA, like Texas and Louisiana.
Seafood Boils in Vancouver are not common which makes The Captain’s Boil unique.

$$ Affordable. Similar pricing to AYCE sushi.
$27.99 plus a $2-$3 drink.
QUALITY:
Pretty good. Shrimp definitely served hot. Good portion size. Lots of seasoning. The fries are great. Nice and crispy.
SERVICE:
Good. Friendly. A bit of a wait to get food during busy dinner time. A wait to get a seat if you’re not early
VERDICT:
The Captain’s Boil AYCE Shrimp and Fries is a good promotion for shrimp lovers. It can get addicting if you love AYCE.
It is not the best deal however. For a similar price you could go to sushi restaurants for AYCE, that offer not only Shrimp Tempura, but also sushi and a bigger menu selection. At the Captain’s Boil you’re limited to Shrimp and Fries.
