GUTOM EATS! Starlight Kitchen a new Hong Kong style restaurant on Kingsway and Nanaimo is NOW OPEN. Starlight Kitchen takes over the spot previously occupied by Pho. Let’s check it out!
King’s Mall has been revived with new restaurants such as Indian cuisine, Korean fried chicken, Vietnamese soup, and now Hong Kong style. Kingsway is definitely a FOODIE STREET.
Breakfast Menu 8AM – 11AM
Hong Kong style combination of Western Breakfast eggs, omelets, and sandwiches with Asian noodles, and rice dishes like Congee. Includes a Hot Milk Tea.

F $13.98 Pan fry chicken steak and two eggs. Comes with toast or hash brown, and a hot drink Milk Tea.
PRICE:
$$ SIMILAR to other Hong Kong restaurants.
QUALITY:
BAD! Undercooked chicken cutlet was PINK. Asked the server to MICROWAVE the chicken.
OK! Pumpkin Congee, good portion size, temperature and flavour. Noodle soup good portion size, and toppings.
SERVICE:
OK! Friendly servers, but they are overwhelmed by the amount of customers and orders. Kitchen is SLOW only one cook, or very slow cooks in the kitchen. They forgot the chicken cutlet and Milk tea!
VERDICT:
NEEDS IMPROVEMENT. Was excited to support a new local business, but Starlight Kitchen is not prepared for the volume of customers, or quality cooked food. The raw chicken cutlet shows they take shortcuts which can lead to food poisoning. There are many other HK cafes in the area with better quality. Cannot recommend at the time of this review.
