GUTOM EATS! Happy Valley Food City in Burnaby. Taking over the former Swiss Chalet restaurant, Happy Valley is one part Hong Kong style cafe, another part Dim Sum Yum Cha tea house, and another part BBQ Bar. Let’s check it out!
Happy Valley Food City is located just off of Lougheed hwy and Boundary Road in a business park. A busy intersection connecting Vancouver and Burnaby. The area is famous for Vancouver’s film industry with Bridge Studios nearby. Happy Valley is the only HK Style restaurant in the area! Happy Valley restaurant has it’s own Free parking spots!
You can get a sense that this area is becoming more popular and Happy Valley is a draw for Asian food fans, and families. It’s not exactly Swiss Chalet, or Denny’s, but it has diner feel to it that Swiss Chalet regulars might appreciate.
Cafe (Breakfast, Lunch, All Day) served 8AM to 12AM.
Dim Sum served 930AM to 3PM. BBQ served 5PM to 12AM
Entering the restaurant you have to decide which menu you’re going to order – Dim Sum, BBQ or Cafe. They will seat you based on the menu!

You can’t order Dim Sum from the cafe! You have to get a new table on the other side of the restaurant!

OK! Good portion size. Served fresh and steaming hot.
Not the best milk tea.

GOOD! Friendly and helpful!
VERDICT:
Overall, SATISFIED. Happy Valley is a good spot for a large selection of dishes under one roof. Good for gatherings, quick lunches and late night cravings. Good location, and prices.
