Liberte Cafe and Restaurant is a new business in East Vancouver at Vanness and Boundary serving modern Filipino cuisine. Liberte is part of Vancouver’s Collingwood area known for many Filipino businesses. Let’s see what Liberte brings to the local food scene!
Liberte is Open Monday to Sunday 8AM – 8PM.
There are two sides to the restaurant – Cafe for take-out and bar seating, and restaurant for tables, and booths for Dine-In. Liberte serves Filipino pastries, coffee, tea, desserts, and they put their own spin on popular Filipino dishes.
At Liberte there’s an impressive selection of Filipino items, cakes, macarons, and buns in the cafe and even more on their dine-in menu.
What we ordered:
Longsilog $14.50
Longaniza (Chicken) Filipino sausage with garlic rice and eggs. Come with atchara pickled papaya.
Longaniza (Chicken)
Filipino sausage. This Longaniza was sweet and not as fatty or spicy/herby has other brands of Longaniza.
Sarap Spaghetti $16
Cheese Sausage, Special House Sauce, Cheddar Cheese, Sliced House Pandesal Toast.
UBE Latte $4.80
Nice presentation and Ube flavour.
Very nice latte art better than most coffee shops!
UBE Purple Dessert Waffle $15.50
Ube Purple Yam Special House Waffle, Canadian Syrup, Powdered Sugar, Ube Jam, 2 SCOOPS OF UBE ICE CREAM, and Pecans.
Very nice presentation, portion size, and UBE flavored waffle mix! The waffle is HOT and fresh and the 2 ice cream scoops are cold! Too bad there’s only one waffle in the dish!
PRICE:
$-$$ FAIR PRICE. Similar to other Brunch restaurants.
QUALITY:
GOOD! The Waffle was fresh and hot, with generous ice cream, and toppings. The Ube Latte was tasty with nice latte art.
OK! The Silog and Spaghetti portion size seemed small. Toast bread with Spaghetti lacked flavour, needed garlic butter flavour. Food temperature was not hot (longsilog) lukewarm (spaghetti sauce, the cheese didn’t melt) could be much hotter for Silog and Spaghetti. Flavours were tasty. The longsilog was slightly sweet with no spice.
SERVICE:
GOOD! Good server was good and managed multiple tables well.
VERDICT:
Overall, SATISFIED. The Ube Waffle is the BEST in Vancouver. It’s nice to see this style of Filipino restaurant in East Vancouver. There’s lots on the menu to try. Liberte’s strengths seem to be the SWEETS: pastries, desserts, drinks, and WAFFLES.
