VIETNAMESE CRAB NOODLE SOUP
Crab Hot Lau is a new business on Kingsway in East Vancouver’s Little Saigon area . Hot Lau’s specialty is CRAB SOUP! This style of soup comes from Hai Phong region of Vietnam.
Crab Hot Lau is open for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner! Their hours are currently 9:30AM – 11:30PM, Dinner starts at 5PM. As of December 2021, the restaurant has a few different menus depending on the time of day.
What we ordered
Bun Cha Nem Cua Hai Phong $19.97
Hai Phong CRISPY square crab spring rolls mixed with ground pork, shrimp, eggs, mushroom, glass noodle, veggies, with home made sauce. Nice presentation!
You can hear the crispiness of the spring rolls! FRESH AND HOT.
The square spring rolls are very different! The server says that you’re supposed to combine it with noodles, veggies, and eat as ONE BITE!
Pear slice and carrot slices in the House Special House.
Banh Da Cua Dong $14.75
Crab Noodle Soup. Broth made with rice field crabs, and featuring flat rice noodles.
PRICE:
$-$$ FAIR PRICE. Priced higher than other Vietnamese restaurants because of the use of seafood, Crab and Shrimp.
QUALITY:
GOOD! Delicious Crispy Crab spring rolls, good fillings. They should include more noodles and a side of broth for the price. The Crab Soup had a light flavour with nice flat noodles and lots of veggies. The meat wrapped in leaf and fish cakes were tasty. The soup tasted mild and a little like Wonton Soup!
SERVICE:
OK! Was seated not long after entering the restaurant. Took a bit of time to get food. The menu needs pictures!
VERDICT:
Overall, SATISFIED. Crab Hot Lau is a nice place to get this unique Crab Noodle Soup, and Crispy Crab spring rolls. A nice alternative to Beef Noodle Soup.
