TOMOKAZU IS BACK! The popular All You Can Eat Sushi restaurant at 1128 W. Broadway has a new owner and a new look! The restaurant is open for LUNCH and DINNER DINE-IN but currently has RESERVATION ONLY until they hire more staff. CALL AHEAD TO RESERVE.
Joshua is the NEW Owner of Tomokazu and is a graduate of SFU. This is his FIRST business. The staff is completely new, new servers and cooks. Apparently, the owner has been dealing with aggressive customers, while the staff gets used to busy lunch and dinner service. Having RESERVATION ONLY helps them adjust to the fast pace of AYCE sushi.
The newly renovated Tomokazu is bright and spacious. The renovation is not finished at the time of this video. The current furniture will be replaced. No more Japanese style booths! The menus and ordering system will be replaced. Currently, the soy sauces are in packets.
Tomokazu is one of the few All You Can Eat Sushi restaurants still in business during the pandemic. On the menu you can order PER PIECE or PER DISH. It’s important to only order what you can eat. Food waste is an extra charge! Don’t waste food!

$$ FAIR PRICE. The prices are very good for the amount of food and selection.
QUALITY:
GOOD! New owner and new recipes. Delicious. Hot food was fresh cooked. Cold food was cold. Fish tasted fresh. Nice preparation of dishes and use of sesame seeds on sashimi. Best dishes: Beef Short Rib, BBQ Wings, Prawn Tempura, Chicken Skewer Sashimi, Negitoro Cones.
The Gyoza was like a crispy wonton. Karaage could use more seasoning.
SERVICE:
GOOD! The owner is friendly and talkative. The staff was attentive, fast to clear plates, and refill water or tea.
VERDICT:
Overall, VERY SATISFIED. Fair priced ALL YOU CAN EAT Sushi and more with good quality and service. Long time Tomokazu fans might be surprised by the new recipes. TOMOKAZU IS BACK!
