Japanese Fried Chicken! Mogu opened last year and originally was dinner only. They recently added LUNCH and have TWO Tables outside during the No Dine-In restrictions. Mogu started out as a Food Truck and this is their first restaurant on Commercial Drive.
The Mogu menu is pretty decent with a good variety. They serve fried chicken a few different ways: chicken only, rice bowls, even with curry and noodles. Their drink menu is SOLID with BEER, SAKE, COCKTAILS and JAPANESE WHISKY plus non-alcoholic drinks.

Comes with miso soup, rice, salad, shrimp side dish, and choice of sauces (Mayo, Sweet Chili, Spicy Gochujang sesame, Shio Garlic lemon).
WHERE’S THE RICE?! Fried Chicken and fluffy white rice, perfect combo! However the bowl might be a little small for rice fans. Expect to order an extra side of rice!
Salad included with the meal. Delicious salad with kale avocado, and more. Refreshing and compliments the Fried Chicken.

5 Piece Fried Chicken Rice Bowl $14.50
The rice bowl is a little different from the Teishoku set, with no miso soup, but it is still quite filling, and satisfying meal. You definitely get more rice in the bowl than the Teishoku meal.
A side of Kale salad included with the rice bowl. Smaller amount than in the Teishoku meal.
Nice side dish of radish.

QUALITY:
GOOD! Delicious good flavour, nice crispy light batter, no heavy oily taste. Good portion size consistently well cooked. Nice Kale salad, side dishes, and soft steamed rice.
Ginger Tea was gingery but could use less sugar.
SERVICE:
GOOD! The owner is very nice, friendly, and professional. Good menu explanation.
VERDICT:
Overall, VERY SATISFIED. Mogu ROCKS! A refreshing and satisfying fried chicken experience with good prices and authentic Japanese style.
